Have you wondered how some clothes make you look thin and then there are others that just happen to make you feel as if you have put on a few pounds almost instantly? The secret behind this is not a magical mirror that you have but the shape of the specific apparel that you are wearing and your body shape; in this case the wedding dress. To ensure that you look the best on your wedding day, here are some options of wedding dress styles for different body shapes.

-      Pear Shaped Body – When you have a pear shaped body, you need to ensure that the focus of the people looking at you falls and remains on the upper part of the body. It is also required that the lower part of the dress is not completely clingy. Choose a dress that flares out in an A style from the waist to the ground. This will hide the slight bulge that you may have on the sides below the waist. The flare also highlights the narrower waist. Using stiffer fabrics such as duchess satin and taffeta is a good idea since they hold better. Use of spaghetti straps or plunging necklines also keeps the attention towards the upper body. A ball gown also flatters those with a pear shaped body.

-       Heavy Bust – For those of you who have been blessed with breasts that your man will love it will help if you choose a dress that has a scooped neckline. Avoid a neckline that is straight, something that will make you look bigger. Avoid fabrics like organza or satin since the sheen tends to direct attention to the chest area. Make sure that you get the right size of brassiere that fits well with the wedding dress and try the same before the D-Day.

-      Plus Sized Body – If you are plus sized the style that will behoove you best is an empire style that flows from right under the bust area. Dresses that start to flow right from the chest should be avoided since they seem like maternity wear. Choose fabrics that provide a specific shape to the gown rather than being flowy.

-       Apple Shaped Body – Accentuate your body by choosing a dress that clinches at the narrow part of your waist and then flares into an A line gown all the way down to the floor. Stay away from trumpet styles that make your look wider. Look at options that have a lot of texture to give it a corset like feel to fit exactly.

-       Straight Shaped Body – If you need to create curves in your otherwise straight body, try and opt for a dress that clings at the waist and then flows all the way to the floor. You can accentuate the bust with ruching to create volume. An empire style wedding dress is also preferable if you want to enhance the look of your bust.

Other than the style you may also want to be careful about the color of the dress if you are going away from the traditional white. Remember that some colors make you look wider than you are. Always ensure that you have adequate amount of time to check out various styles before you decide on the one that you want to opt for. Take the opinion of someone whom you trust so that you know that you shall get sound and realistic advice.
